Bio
Christopher Kovach, a savvy litigator with over 25 years of experience, has been part of the complex civil litigation teams on some of Barnwell Whaley’s most complex civil litigation, transportation, construction defect, and insurance defense cases. With an eye toward efficiency, he assists the firm with e-discovery and Electronically Stored Information solutions.
Commercial transportation forms the backbone of America’s economy, and Chris devotes a significant portion of his practice to the trucking industry and commercial transportation. He represents local and national carriers as well as owner-operators.
He is proud of his work assisting drivers navigate significant legal challenges as they keep America moving. To ensure driver success, Chris takes a boots-on-the-ground approach to accident investigation by partnering with engineering professionals.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Ohio University and his Juris Doctor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of Health Matrix, the Journal of Law-Medicine. Before joining Barnwell Whaley, Chris worked with two multi-state legal practices representing national lenders in litigation, mediation, and regulatory matters
In 2009, he was honored as the Metanoia Volunteer of the Year. Chris volunteers his time on the governance committee Increasing Hope, a Charleston non-profit dedicated to finding pathways to home ownership and financial independence in the Charleston community.
When not counseling clients, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. He also hosts Spanish foreign exchange students to learn and create cultural bridges between countries. Chris can often be found tinkering endlessly with antique vehicles in his quest to keep old American iron and steel on the road for future generations of enthusiasts.
