Since 2003, Increasing H.O.P.E (Helping Others Prosper Economically) has been providing financial training educational opportunities to the local community. We are a nonprofit Financial Training Center with a passion to see individuals and families become educated, enriched and empowered in the area of personal finance.

Before she ever founded Increasing H.O.P.E, Dorothea Bernique was sitting at her kitchen table when a realization hit her: she wanted to help people who were struggling with their finances. She went on to found Increasing H.O.P.E in 2003, and in 2005 the organization gained its 501©3 nonprofit tax status. Dorothea operates as the organization’s Executive Director and visionary, and a dedicated Board of Directors is helping to drive Increasing H.O.P.E forward in its vision to creating financial freedom for individuals and families in South Carolina.

As Accredited Financial Counselor, Dorothea teaches and trains individuals on how to implement money management skills and strategies. This training improves financial literacy among individuals of all ages, within the local community and will result in a more productive life for individuals and families. Financial literacy training has been provided to community businesses, schools and non-profit organizations, including the YWCA, My Sister’s House and The Center for Women. She has been a guest on teleconferences for The US Department of Labor Women’s Bureau and UPLIFT Publishing Company.

A United States Air Force Veteran who is no stranger to serving her country or her community, Dorothea is dedicated and committed to seeing others become educated and empowered in the area of finances, especially women. She is a business partner with schools in the local area and spends time in the classroom teaching and instructing young people. Her time and talents are also given to local non-profit organizations as well as churches.
